How to plan your first PC build

Start with your workload, not the most expensive component. A balanced build begins before you buy anything.

Define the job

Write down your games or applications, monitor resolution and refresh rate, total budget and country. Include the operating system, monitor and peripherals in your budget. Do not spend the entire budget on the tower if you still need them.

Choose a platform

Choose a processor and a motherboard that supports its exact model and BIOS version. Socket matching is only the first check. Decide the memory generation with the motherboard; DDR4 and DDR5 are not interchangeable.

Check the physical build

Check motherboard size, graphics card dimensions and cooler clearance against the case manual. Front radiators can reduce GPU space. Tall memory can interfere with air coolers. Check the particular card variant, not just the GPU family.

Buy with a return plan

Compare the final basket, including delivery, local tax handling and return conditions. Aim to receive core components close together so you can test them within the relevant return windows. Save receipts and original packaging.

Assemble methodically

Follow each manufacturer manual. Work with power disconnected, handle parts by their edges and never mix modular PSU cables from different models. If you are uncertain about power connections, stop and consult the manufacturer. Test the system before enabling memory overclocking.

Specifications vary by exact product model and revision. Check the manufacturer’s documentation before purchasing.
