PC compatibility: what a checker can and cannot prove

A green socket check is useful. It is not proof that every component will work together.

CPU, motherboard and BIOS

The same socket does not establish BIOS support. Find the exact CPU on the motherboard support list and identify the required BIOS version. Check how to update firmware before buying, especially if the board needs a supported CPU to perform the update.

Memory and storage

Match DDR generation and check capacity, DIMM count and the motherboard qualified vendor list. Advertised memory profiles are overclocking settings, not a promise. M.2 describes a form factor; verify supported protocol, length and shared SATA or PCIe lanes in the motherboard manual.

Space and power

Check GPU length, height and slot width, cooler height, RAM clearance and radiator placement. Verify PSU wattage, required GPU connectors and cable routing. Our preliminary power budget is an estimate, not a transient-load measurement.

Unknown is not compatible

Missing specifications are shown as unknown. Do not interpret an absent warning as approval. Our checks are an aid to reading official compatibility lists, not a replacement for them.

Specifications vary by exact product model and revision. Check the manufacturer’s documentation before purchasing.
